HURFOM: Locals reported to HURFOM that the military junta has forcefully relocated some villages on Thanbyuzayat-Three Pagoda Pass Highway Road, in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State.   The relocation initiative has led more than 1,000 residents to flee their homes.

Displaced villagers have taken shelter in the nearby mountain forests and rubber plantations, and they are in urgent need of shelter, clothes and food to fight against the winter.

Temporarily, we have to take a safe shelter in the nearby forests, mountains and plantations. It’s challenging to flee home in this weather. The winter is approaching and it’s getting cold. We are in need of shelter. No one dares to go back home to get food. The military also hasn’t allowed us to enter the village,” said a Thanbyuzayat resident.

The 62nd Light Infantry Battalion is now stationed in Ye Ta Gon and Zee Hna Pin villages and they have frequent battles with the joint resistance forces.

On November 8th and 9th, an intense battle between the military junta and the joint resistance forces took place near Pa Yaw Hell village.

These battles have forced residents from Sa Khan Gyi, Zee Han Pin, Ye Ta Gon, Yaw Thit, Pa Yaw Hell and U Khway-Daw Yane villages to flee, and the displaced villagers are unable to return to their homes.
