November 14, 2024
HURFOM: At about 4 am on November 12th, 2024, the military junta attacked Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State even though there had been no active armed clashes in the area. Artillery shells exploded on the premises of the Basic Education Middle School.
There were no casualties but the explosion damaged some school buildings.
Parents are now worrying about their children’s safety and have not sent them to school.
“As there have been frequent artillery attacks on the village, some residents are staying at their plantation. Now, the attack hit the school and some (windows) were broken. Although the damage is small, parents are frightened and have not sent their children to school today,” said a local source.
Since October, 2024, the junta has shown up in large numbers, in and around Kyone Lone village creating fear and worry among local villagers.
A local armed revolutionary organization known as “Ye Balue” has gained control and is also active in Kyone Long village. As a result the military junta frequently conducts aerial patrols and launches indiscriminate artillery attacks.
