A passenger truck attacked by landmine in Thaton

HURFOM: At about 8:30 pm on September 1st, 2024, a passenger truck was attacked by landmine nearby Ka Mar Sai village, Don Won village track, Thaton Township, Mon State and the driver and a passenger died on the spot. Moreover, other five passengers, including women and child, have sustained injuries.
“The truck was attacked by landmine at Ka Mar Sai village. When we reached there, two people already died on the spot. Four women sustained serious injuries. A child has an injury at his leg and it’s a minor injury. The truck was totally damaged,” said an official of a local rescue team who wants to remain anonymous.
The injured passengers have been sent to the Thein Sake Hospital and the Thaton District Hospital for further treatment.
HURFOM has been informed that the passengers were from Pegu and Tha Nat Pin Towns of Pegu Division and they went back from Myawaddy Town.
Passenger trucks, family cars and transportation truck have frequently been attacked by landmine nearby Ka Mar Sai village on Mawlamyine-Yangon Highway Road. Both the military junta and the resistance forces are active in the area and they have accused each other of being responsible for landmine explosion.
