HURFOM: On June 19th, 2024, the military junta targeted Zar D village, Yebyu Township, in Tenasserim Division with indiscriminate artillery attacks, forcing the entire village to flee.
A navy ship based in Yebyu launched artillery attacks despite no armed clashes taking place in the area. Villagers hid themselves in nearby forest and plantations.
“They’ve launched artillery attacks for five consecutive days. The People Defense Forces are also active in the area. Villagers are afraid of possible armed clashes and run away,” said a Zar D resident.
A military regiment has stationed themselves at Pa Ka and Maw Gyi villages which are close to ZarD village.
“We’ve returned home at daytime to charge our phones. Then, we came back to the camp for displaced persons at night. We have to live like that,” said a displaced person.
On May 15th, the indiscriminate artillery attacks by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command killed a 16-year-old and an 11-year-old brother and sister from Zar D village.
