Civilian injured and two houses destroyed by artillery attack in Dawei

HURFOM: On May 13th, 2024, the military junta launched an indiscriminate artillery attack on Maung Mae Shaung village, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division and the explosion injured a civilian and damaged two houses.
After the “Eain Shae Pyin” military junta’s check-point in Dawei was attacked by resistance forces, the Za Har village-based artillery regiment launched 12 indiscriminate artillery attacks.
The artillery shells exploded in the east part of Maung Mae Shaung village injuring a 70-year-old man and destroying two houses.
“The old man shouted for help when he was hit by an artillery attack. As there was an explosion nearby, we couldn’t go outside to help him. Now, he is receiving treatment,” said a local villager.
Maung Mae Shaung village is just seven miles away from Dawei City and villagers have had to flee from their homes frequently due to armed clashes and artillery attacks.
On May 2nd, the military junta targeted Maung Mae Shaung village with artillery attacks forcing nearly the entire village to flee.
