On May 3rd, 2024, the military junta sent nearly 50 young men to the advanced military training school in Well Ka Lee village, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State. These young men will undergo military training as the second batch facing compulsory military service.
“The young candidates had a medical check-up at No. #6 military education school near the Southeast Command in Mawlamyine. Then, they were sent to the military training school on May 3rd,” said a local source.
Before the Songkran festival period, the junta had trained more than 200 young men in the first batch subject to compulsory military service. Chaung Zone Township made the biggest contribution and has done so again with the second batch.
“The young candidates have already finished their training. But we don’t know where the junta sent them. The junta haven’t got enough candidates in the second batch,” said the local source.
Junta appointed Administrators have forcefully recruited young men into compulsory military service and extorted a huge amount of money from those who want to avoid compulsory military service.
