HURFOM: After revolutionary forces attack by drones, on the “Ma Hwelve Taung” Check-point, located on the border of Mon State and Tenasserim Division, the military junta launched air assaults on Yebyu Township, on March 29, 2024.
The air assault injured a villager and destroyed a house. More than 1,000 residents from Kywe Tha Lin, Log Tie, Yar Phu and Ah Lae Sa Khan villages had to flee their homes.
Currently, military aircraft are flying over the area on a daily basis and junta’s regiments launched as many as 40 artillery attacks, per day. Displaced persons from four villages are unable to return to their homes.
“The aircraft are flying every day. As we had to run away immediately, we’re in need of clothes and food,” said a displaced person.
Since early this year, the junta has been launching more and more air assaults on Long Lone, Dawei and Yebyu Townships of Tenasserim Division and ten thousands of villagers have to flee home.
“We dare not go outside when hearing the sound of aircraft. We’re afraid of being shot. They’re flying overhead nearly every day,” said a resident from Yar Phu village.
The junta’s air assaults have meant residents from East Forest Region, Dawei Township are unable to return home. The junta has blocked the transportation of rice and food in the area.
“They have nothing but their own clothes. At the moment, we’ve tried our best to help them. We’ve built temporary shelters,” said a social worker helping displaced persons.
