HURFOM: In the last few days, more than 100 troops of the New Mon State Party (AD – Anit Military Dictatorship) have been active near Ah Nin village, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State. The threat of an imminent armed clash between the revolutionary groups and the military junta, has triggered nearly all of the villagers to flee their homes.
“Between 100 – 200 troops of the NMSP (AD) arrived in our area. Their alliances are also here. They’re very close to Ah Nin. The villagers think they’ll attack the Ah Nin Police Station and run away,” said an Ah Nin villager.
The Ah Nin Police Station is a strong military base of the military junta and the revolutionary forces have frequently attacked the station.
“The Ah Nin Police Station is an important base for them. They’ve positioned themselves very strongly. The revolutionary forces can’t defeat the station. Now, no one stays in houses near the station. Everyone is running away. The NMSP (AD) is also active here now so the villagers think the armed clash will definitely happen. Most of the villagers have fled their homes,” continued the villager.
On January 31, 2024, the joint revolutionary forces attacked the Ah Nin Police Station for nearly two hours and the military junta responded with air assaults. The 315th Artillery Regiment also launched indiscriminate artillery attacks on nearby areas. The revolutionary forces had to withdraw their troops.
At the moment, the Ah Nin villagers have been taking shelter at nearby plantations and farms.
