HURFOM: On March 2nd, 2024, a regiment with about 60 troops launched a military operation in Tha Bot Sake and Pyin Gyi villages, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division and arrested approximately 20 local villagers.

Women and children were amongst those arrested.

As we learned there was a military operation, we were cautious to stay in the village. The regiment entered the village on the morning of March 2nd. They arrested villagers and forced them to carry their bags,” said a Tha Bot Sake resident.

The arrested women and children were released at noon the same day but the rest were only released when the regiment arrived at Taw Shay village. However, 50-year-old U Ngae O has not yet been released.

U Nage O was beaten during the arrest. The recently-released villagers said he would be released only when the village Administrator comes to request his release,” said a Tha Bot Sake villager.

Since February 1, 2021, the junta has routinely launched military operations once every two months in Tha Bot Sake village.
