Young girl killed by junta’s artillery attack in Ye Township

HURFOM: On January 20th, 2024, an armed clash between the military junta and the joint revolutionary forces took place near Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State. After the clash, local military bases recklessly and indiscriminately launched artillery attacks on nearby villages that killed a 12-year-old girl from R Yu Taung village.
Ma Yun Me Me, was initially sent to Ye General Hospital for treatment but died at the hospital.
The 106th Light Infantry Battalion and the 317th Artillery Regiment based in Ye Township launched artillery attacks on nearby villages day and night. Houses were damaged and residents from Maw Ka Nin, R Yu Taung and Kwan Du villages had to flee.
“The elderly and the children from villages near the military bases had to move out first. They’re staying at their relatives’ houses. Shops are closed now. At the moment, we hear the sound of artillery attacks every day and night,” said a Maw Ka Nin resident.
