Two sisters arrested by junta in Kan Bauk

HURFOM: On December 21, 2023, soldiers from Mawrawaddy Navy Command arrested two sisters from Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.
Both 30-year-old Ma NawN aw Shein and Ma Maw Maw Shein operated a beauty salon in Hle Gone Ward, Kan Bauk Town.
“They (the soldiers) searched the house from top to bottom and arrested the two sisters. We do not know the reason for their arrest yet. They aren’t allowed to meet with their family members. According to their neighbors, the soldiers were holding documents and their names were listed in the documents,” said a Kan Bauk resident.
Ever since the Mawrawaddy Navy Command was attacked by drones, the military junta began to frequently arrest Kan Bauk villagers.
Between the last week of November up until December 17th, 2023, the junta arrested eight Kan Bauk residents and only one has been released.
