Junta cuts telecommunications in Kyarinnseikyi Town and nearby villages

HURFOM: Local people reported to HURFOM that the military junta has cut the telecommunications network in Kyarinnseikyi Town and nearby villages, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State. Service has not been operating since November 9, 2023.

We have not been able to use the “Mytel” for nearly a month in our area. Sometimes the “MPT” service has a signal,” said a resident from the village.

At the moment, Taung Pauk, Line Ka Ne, Taung Dee, Kyaung Khun, Htee Pauk Low, Win Yaw Sake Kyi and Kha Lel – Dagon Tie villages can access the “Telenor” service but only from 3 am to 11 am. However, after getting access to telecommunications service for one day, the signal will go off for another three days.

The armed clash is ongoing (in Kyarinnseikyi Township). I want to inquire about my parents but I can’t contact them. They have telecommunications signals for specific times but I can’t call them and talk to them,” said a resident who moved to Mudon Town from the Township.

Local people reported to HURFOM that the junta cut telecommunications in all villages alongside the Kyarinnseikyi – Three Pagoda Pass Road, but HURFOM has not confirmed the situation on the ground.

In June, 2022, the junta cut telecommunications in the Kha Lel – Dagon Tie area, Kyarinnseikyi Township due to heavy armed clashes.
