HURFOM: On the evening of November 16, 2023, the Southeast Military Command based in Ya Khine Gone village, Mawlamyine Township, Mon State was hit by a bomb dropped by a drone.

After the attack which was attributed to the revolutionary forces, the military junta tightened its security in Mawlamyine and began to stop pedestrians and check their ID cards and mobile phones, reported a local source.

They are patrolling the city by car at night. Many people have stopped going outside at night in Mawlamyine,” said a resident.

The security forces are stationed at crowded areas and the entrance and the exit of the town and stop and check cars and motorbikes.

Now, if you go to Mawlamyine, you’ll be checked by soldiers. There are lots of “stop and check” signs along the road so you won’t have much time for your business,” said a young resident.

The junta has installed CCTV cameras at every junction in Mawlamyine to watch the movement of the people and ordered a martial law curfew that is in place from 12 am to 4 am.
