Three Kan Bauk residents arrested by junta released

HURFOM: On November 4, 2023, three 30-year-old Kan Bauk residents were arrested by the military junta near Sin Yan Bridge at Kan Bauk village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.

The three men were drinking alcohol together near the bridge and the junta’s soldiers shot and arrested them without cause, reported local residents.

However, they were released the next day, November 5.

The soldiers were searching for a tricycle that passed through their gate. When they saw the three men, they arrested them without any reason. But they were released on the next day,” said a local villager.

The soldiers are stationed at the office of the department of forestry in Kan Bauk village and they have not allowed anyone to pass their gate after 8 pm.

There was a tricycle that passed their gate after 8 pm. They searched for that tricycle and when they saw the three men, they shot at them. They run into the “alcohol” shop. The soldiers came by two family cars and a military truck and arrested them,” said a villager.

The incident has raised anxiety amongst local residents.
