Junta arrests and kills Kyike Hto resident

HURFOM: On July 17, 2023, 25-year-old Ko Chit Lay from Chaung Saung village, located in the Zee Pyaung village tract, of Kyike Hto Township, Mon State was arrested by the junta at “Bus Station Junction ” in Thane Za Yet Town.

The next day, the 310th Artillery Battalion informed his family to come and claim his body.

“Since the family heard about his arrest, they tried to get in contact with him. Then, they were informed at noon on July 18 to come and take away his dead body. He was a peaceful guy who didn’t have contact with any (revolutionary) groups,” said a Zee Gone resident.

Ko Chit Lay’s body had bruises on his head, neck and nape and there was a cut to his lips. His skull was also soft.

Earlier this year, on January 25, 2023, another individual, Ko Kyaw Zin Latt was arrested at the same place and he was also killed the next day.
