Plantation owner kidnapped by unknown armed group in Lamine

HURFOM: At approximately 10 am on April 17, 2023, a 40-year-old resident from Gone Paw Yaw Thit village, Lamine Sub-township, Ye Township, in Mon State was kidnapped by an unknown armed group. The victim is the owner of a plantation.

The  group is demanding one million Kyat for his release, according to a local source.

His wife just phoned me. He was kidnapped by an unknown armed group. They threatened that the family must pay one million Kyat within an hour for his release and not tell anyone about the kidnapping. None of the family members dare share the news and they’re discussing how to deal with the problem,” said a local villager.

The plantation owned by the victim is close to the 317th  Artillery Battalion, but there is no indication of the perpetrators being with the Burmese army or another armed group.
