Two villagers shot and injured on Ye – Thanbyuzayat Highway Road

HURFOM: At approximately 11 am on April 10, 2023, two villagers were shot and injured on the Ye – Thanbyuzayat Highway Road near Lane Maw Chan village, in Ye Township, Mon Sate.
The victims were shot while traveling in a vehicle when they were returning home from Three Pagoda Pass.
The bullet penetrated the waist of the man while the woman sustained a bullet wound to her leg. Both victims were sent to Ye General Hospital for further treatment.
“Many travelers are getting shot. We frequently hear about this kind of news on the Facebook pages of the local rescue teams. Where the shooting occurred is where the junta’s soldiers usually hide (to ambush the PDF). There has been shooting every day there. We’ve heard gunfire from our house,” said a villager from Maw Ka Nin village.
Since the February 2021 coup, at least 10 villagers have been shot and killed on the Ye – Thanbyuzayat Highway Road. The shootings took place near Aung Thar Yar, Aye Kabar, Lane Maw Chan and Ka Nin Ka Maw villages, in Ye Township.
