HURFOM: At about noon on March 21, 2023, Burmese soldiers entered Nyaw Pyin and Out Kyauk Wutt villages, Long Lone Township, in Tenasserim Division and burnt down houses. Then they shot and killed a villager, local sources told HURFOM.
The soldiers came to the villages by boats and destroyed and burnt down 96 houses. 40 houses were completely burnt to ashes, according to a villager from Nyaw Pyin.
“The fire has stopped now but it isn’t safe. My house was also burnt down. All of our valuable belongings were lost. Now we have to stay at the others’ houses,” said a woman from Nyaw Pyin village.
While the houses burnt, the Burmese soldiers shot and killed a 20-year-old villager.
The soldiers have left the area now, but villagers are fearful to return, and many no longer have homes.
On March 10, 2023, Burmese soldiers again burnt down houses in Pa Nyit village and on March 14, they shot and killed six villagers from Out Kyaut Wutt village, according to local sources.
