Military denies detainee the right to meet family members

HURFOM: On February 14, 2023, the 106th Light Infantry Battalion arrested Nai Tint Wai, owner of the Yadanar Men Gas Station in Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, in Mon State.
On February 27, the detainee was transferred to the 9th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) in Ye. He has not been allowed to meet with any of his family members.
“They haven’t allowed him to meet with his family members as of today. We don’t know why he was arrested. His family members have sent food to him but have no chance to meet with him. We don’t know anything about his situation,” said a villager who is close to the detainee’s family.
Nai Kyaw Oo, who is close to the detainee’s family, was also arrested by the 106th LIB on February 7th, but was released on February 25th .
Since the military junta imposed martial law and a curfew (6pm to 6am) throughout Ye Township, there have been more innocent villagers killed and arrested without any reason.
