Six-year-old sexually abused in Mudon

HURFOM: On January 3, 2021, a six-year-old girl from Myo Ma #4 Ward, Mudon, in Mon State was sexually abused by a 27-year-old neighbor.
Police Captain Aung Myo Tu, with the Mudon Police explained the child lived in the workers’ barrack of the combustion chamber of the Myo Ma #4 cemetery. The rapist, a married man, lived in the same place.
“When the girl went to the toilet, the man followed and raped her. His wife suspected [something was wrong because] he was gone for a long time. She followed him and saw the incident. The husband told his wife not to tell anyone about the rape, threatening her if she revealed the truth,” said the Police Captain.
However, the wife told the girl’s grandmother about the rape.
The girl’s grandmother reported the case at the Mudon Police Station. Police made the arrest and the perpetrator has been charged under the Burmese Criminal Act #376 punishment for rape and #363 – punishment for kidnapping.
