HURFOM: Since December 24th, 2024, the military junta has been conducting “aerial patrols” over villages in Bilin Township, Mon State and on December 30th, the Karen New Year Day, the junta dropped at least four bombs on Kya Thaung Sake village.

The “aerial patrols” persisted after the air assault, forcing 4,875 residents from 15 villages including Kya Thaung Sake, Pyin Ma Pin, Myint Kyoe and Min Saw villages to hide themselves in bomb shelters and rock caves.

The aircraft comes every day so villagers dare not stay in their homes. Most of them are hiding in rock caves. We’ve supported them with food as much as we can,” said Ba Do Saw Aye Nile, the Secretary of the Thaton District Karen National Union.

The above-mentioned 15 villages are under the control of the Brigade #1 of the Karen National Liberation Army and are mostly inhabited by Karen people.

The junta also launched air assaults on Ka Tie Kie and Baw Kyoe Lell villages which are under the control of Brigade #5 in Phar Pon Township.  On the Karen New Year Day and on December 31st, 2024, the Karen National Union (Central) released a statement condemning the misconduct of the military junta who launched air assaults on a special day targeting Karen people.
