HURFOM: On January 5th, 2025, junta’s security forces at the “Sat Taw Yar” security gate in Kyell village track, Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division beat and arrested four young men after accusing them of being the members of the People’s Defense Force.

The 20-year-old young men are from Dawei City and they came to Myeik to work on a fishing boat, but were arrested at the junta’s security gate.

The four young men left Dawei for Myeik to work on a fishing boat. They aren’t the PDF members. They’re fishermen from Dawei,” said a local source.

As of today, the junta’s forces have not released the young men. They remained detained at the security gate and were put under harsh interrogation.

Security forces beat the four young men in public sight, and villagers are worried that the security forces may kill them.

Since November, 2024, there have been 358 civilians arrested by the military junta under various charges in Tenasserim Division.  Only 157 have been released, according to a report by the FE5 Tanintharyi.
