HURFOM: Since December, 2024, there have been intense and frequent armed clashes between the military junta and the joint forces of the revolutionary armed groups in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. The junta has cut off phone and internet telecommunications in the conflict areas leaving villagers in life-threatening situations due to information blackout.
“There have been frequent armed clashes and we’ve lost our telecommunication network. So we don’t have any advance information about military operations or armed clashes. The information blackout makes it difficult to flee to a safe place. Local villagers are living in a life-threatening situation,” said a local source.
All three operators – Atom, MPT and Ooredoo have no signal in Long Lone Township.
“Recently, we could use an alternative operator when one operator lost the signal. But now, none of them are working. Atom operators have no signal even in urban areas,” said a local villager.
Local villagers bought MPT Sim cards which had a better signal for 25,000 MMK each but now even those cards cannot get a signal.
Throughout 2024, the military junta has cut off telecommunication networks in Tenasserim Division where there have been heavy armed conflicts.
