Junta restricts transportation of gasoline in Pu Law Township
January 8, 2025
HURFOM: Since January 1st, 2024, the military junta has restricted local transportation of gasoline in Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division.
The security gates in Pu Law Township have banned transportation of gasoline through their gates. The only gasoline transportation that is permitted must have the support of specific village administrators.
In order to get such support in the form of a recommendation letter from village administrators, villagers must pay from 5,000 to 10,000 MMK and they have to inform the military junta about the transportation in advance.
“We go to work in the morning and come back in the evening. If we transport gasoline, the security gate doesn’t allow us to pass the gate. They ask for the recommendation letter from the village Administrator. It isn’t easy to get a recommendation letter,” said a truck driver.
The Ma Gyi Gone Security Gate near the Pu Law based 285th Light Infantry Battalion and the security gate nearby Lat Ku village are principally responsible for preventing transportation of gasoline.
Nan Taung, Jin Gar and Kyaung Nane villages from eastern Pu Law and Tin Gan Taw, Toe and Mya Daung villages from southern Pu Law Township all face a shortage of gasoline restrictions.
