Junta’s air and artillery assaults kill eight civilians in Ah Nan Kwin Battle

HURFOM: Between August 19th and the 29th, 2024, there was an intense battle between the military junta and the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army in Ah Nan Kwin village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.
The junta’s air and artillery assaults killed eight residents.
Five residents from Ah Nan Kwin and nearby villages, two residents from Lot Shan village and a resident from Yel Ta Gon village were killed by the attacks during the ten-day-long battle.
“The military launched artillery attacks at least twice a day. Three women and two children were among the victims,” said a local source.
Also three villagers were injured by the junta’s artillery attack and they received treatment in a liberated area.
More than 500 houses from Ah Nan Kwin village were destroyed and/or burnt down during the intense battle and more than 4,000 residents from nearby ten villages had to flee home.
