Civilian severely injured by junta’s unprovoked artillery attack in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On August 10th, 2024, the 310th artillery regiment based in Thane Za Yet targeted Ah Khine village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State with artillery attack and severely injured a 27-year-old young man. There were no armed clashes taking place in the area.

The junta hasn’t launched an artillery attack for three or four days but they launched the attack again last night. The injured villager isn’t from Ah Khine village. He is from Mote Kha Maw and came here to do some fishing. His injury is really serious,” said an Ah Khine resident.

Due to the artillery explosion, Ko Way Yan aka Ko Moe D sustained an open wound in his abdomen and the artillery debris also penetrated his legs and arms.

Ah Khine village is under the control of the Thaton District Karen National Union and mostly inhabited by Karen people.

According to the statement by the Thaton District KNU, the junta’s artillery attack killed 9 civilians and injured 8 villagers in Kyike Hto Township in July, 2024.
