HURFOM: On April 25th, 2024, approximately 200 military junta troops launched an operation in Kaw Bane, Kaw Pauk and Kaw Pa Line villages, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Mon State. Junta forces arrested and tortured local villagers and stole gold, cash, jewelry and motorbikes.

During the incident, a 30-year-old Kaw Bane resident, Min Aung Chan and a 38-year-old Kaw Pa Line resident, Nai Seik Gyi had their mobile phones taken as well as their motorbikes.

The junta accused Min Aung Chan of finding evidence on his mobile phone of supporting resistance forces and he was arrested.

Both the man and the motorbike disappeared. We also lost phone contact with him. Some villagers, including both men and women, were also arrested. Some were released so we hoped Min Aung Chan would also be released. But the villagers found his dead body at the back of a house in Kaw Pa Line village. His hands were tied at his back and he died of a gunshot wound,” said a villager.

Nai Seik Gyi also disappeared the same day, along with his motorbike. His dead body was found on April 28th at a village market in Kaw Bane village.

We found on social media that Nai Seik Gyi’s motorbike was taken away by a military truck. We had no clue as to his whereabouts, so we reported him missing. But his dead body was found on April 28th at Kaw Bane village market. The junta shot and killed him and took his motorbike away. They’re really cruel. I’m really angry with them,” said a local resident.

On April 25th, the military junta also killed a 19-year-old woman during a brutal raid on Kaw Bane village.
