No armed clashes, yet Junta’s used drone assaults and kills local woman

HURFOM: On February 16th, 2024, the military junta dropped a bomb using a drone on Lut Shan village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State and killed a local woman. Sources reported there was no armed clash at the time.
The 325th Artillery Regiment based in Wel Ka Li, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State was responsible for the attack. The 53-year-old woman was hit by bomb debris on her head and died.
“The junta is targeting residential villages with both reckless and indiscriminate artillery attacks and air assaults,” said a Lut Shan resident.
The junta launched another drone attack on a rubber plantation nearby San Pya village, Kyarinnseikyi Township and injured another woman.
“On that day, we heard the loud sound of artillery attacks from the Wel Ka Li Artillery Regiment. They attacked where the People’s Defense Force was supposed to be,” said a woman who lives nearby Regiment.
Ever since February 1, 2021, there have been frequent armed clashes between the military junta and the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army on the Kyarinnseikyi – Thanbyuzayat Road. The junta typically launches indiscriminate artillery and air assaults after every armed clash.
