Junta destroys seven houses in Tha Yet Chaung

HURFOM: On February 9th, 2025, one of the junta’s regiments launched a military operation in Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division. According to local sources, junta troops entered the village via Pan Pyin – Mell Nell Owl village on February 8th and within two days the troops burnt down and destroyed seven houses.
“The regiment continuously launched military operations that reached the village on February 8th. First, they searched the houses from top to bottom. Then by the next day, they burnt down houses,” said an Oak Tu resident.
After burning down houses, the regiment arrested a villager and left the village.
The regiment commandeered the village monastery and took over private homes in Tha Yet Hna Kwa village on February 9th and February 10th.
Upon learning of this military advance in the area, residents from nearby villages fled.
Junta’s regiments have been deploying military operations like this throughout Tha Yet Chaung Township. On January 27th, a regiment burnt down and destroyed a house and two motorbikes. Between January 31st and February 2nd, another regiment burnt down 12 houses in Yaung Maw and King Shay villages.
