HURFOM: Locals reported to HURFOM that on November 24th, 2024, the military junta shot and killed an elderly man from Kyauk Whut Gone village, Thit Toe Dough village tract, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.
A military regiment who was active in the west bank of Yebyu Township entered Kyauk Whut Gone village via a jungle route. They battled with the People’s Defense Force along the way.
After the battle, they entered the village at about 10 am and shot and killed U Shwe Nyan who was riding his motorbike on the village road.
“They put his body in an old hole near the village monastery and covered it with soil. We couldn’t take back the body immediately as the regiment was stationed at the monastery,” said a local villager.
The villagers retrieved the body on November 25th and saw there were gunshot injuries to his head and lower legs. They cremated the body at noon.
While entering into the village, the regiment arrested men, women, old villagers and children and detained them at the village monastery. Then, they released the villagers but forced the young villagers to serve as human shields.
They released the young villagers when they reached Kya Khatta Pin Inn village.
Currently, the junta’s regiment has launched military operations in Daung Shaung, Pane Shaung, Kyuak Whut Gone and nearby villages forcing residents to flee their homes.
