Junta’s artillery attack kills two teenage siblings

HURFOM: On May 15th, 2024, the military junta launched an indiscriminate artillery attack on Zar De village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division that killed two teenage siblings.
The junta claimed that members of the People’s Defense Forces were hiding near Zar De village. Despite the fact that there were no armed clashes in the area, the junta forces intentionally launched an indiscriminate artillery attack on the village.
The artillery explosion killed 15-year-old Zaw Myo Aung and his 10-year-old sister Ma Pwint Pwint.
“The brother and sister were having their meal when the artillery shell exploded in their kitchen. Their injuries were fatal, gruesome and severe. The kitchen was totally destroyed,” said a Zar De resident.
Local sources reported to HURFOM that Mawrawaddy Navy Command based in Yebyu Township was responsible for the attack.
