Two civilians from Nyin Maw Village, Launglon Township, Dawei District, have been killed by junta troops advancing through the area, according to local residents.

The victims were identified as U Win Naing, a man in his 50s who was living with a mental health condition, and another Burmese man, also around 51, who had recently moved to Nyin Maw and settled there.

Villagers said the Burmese man’s body was discovered on 13 November, after troops temporarily withdrew from the village. The second body, believed to be U Win Naing, was found on 16 November. Both had been buried in shallow graves.

“A rotten smell led us to search the area, and we found the bodies buried and discarded. Three motorcycles and two houses were burned down inside the village. Many other homes were damaged from forced entry,” a resident of Nyin Maw told HURFOM.

Local sources report that since 10 November, junta troops have been moving toward Nyin Maw, triggering several clashes with resistance forces nearby. The bodies of the two civilians, along with two resistance fighters killed in the fighting, have now been exhumed and cremated.

As of 17 November, military tension remains high around Nyin Maw, forcing residents from both Nyin Maw and Sit Pyal villages to flee their homes in search of safety.
