Three elderly residents injured in a battle in Pu Law Township

HURFOM: On August 8th, 2024, a battle between the military junta and the joint resistance forces nearby Mee Laung Chaung village, Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division and the 17th Light Infantry Battalion, injured three elderly residents.

An artillery explosion injured 70-year-old U Phoe Kyar, his wife Daw Q Aye, and another 70-year-old woman.

The artillery attack targeted the PDF in the residential area. A couple and an old woman were injured by the attack. Villagers sent them to hospital. They’ve had a fifty-fifty chance of recovery,” said a Mee Laung Chaung resident.

The three injured villagers have been receiving treatment at the Pu Law Township General Hospital and residents have since due to the armed clash.

Since August 1st, 2024, the junta has deployed a very large number of troops in military operations targeting Sin Htoe Gyi and Inn Ma villages, Pu Law Township, and in areas alongside the Dawei-Myeik Highway Road.   Intense battles in the area have followed.
