HURFOM: Heavy fighting near Min Hla Village, Ye Township, Mon State, left a young villager injured and caused serious damage to civilian property after Junta troops fired artillery into the community, according to local residents.

The clash took place around Min Hla Village in Ye Township. After the fighting, three artillery shells fired from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No. 106, based in Mokkanin Village, Lamine Sub-Township, landed inside the village. The explosions damaged a monk’s living quarters at the local monastery, destroyed three houses and burned three motorbikes, villagers said.

“The shells fell right inside the village. One landed on a house. Another fell inside the monastery compound. Some villagers ran as soon as the fighting started, but not everyone could flee,” a local resident told HURFOM.

During the fighting, small arms fire from junta troops struck a 23-year-old villager named Saw Khu Khu, who was hit and later sent to Ye Hospital for treatment, according to community sources.

On 15 November, a military column of more than 100 soldiers moved from Kyaung Ywa Village toward Min Hla Village, also known locally as Leip Pot. The column clashed with the Ye Balu resistance group for more than two hours. After the fighting, the troops withdrew via Nga Kale Chaung Village and moved back in the direction of Kyaung Ywa, residents reported.

Once again, communities in Ye Township are bearing the costs of ongoing armed conflict. Villagers in Min Hla now face not only the fear of renewed clashes, but also the loss of homes, religious buildings and the injuries of their loved ones as they try to survive in a war zone they did not choose.
